About Miranda
Tutoring should be more than a Q & A session, it should be interactive! I started peer instructing students when I WAS a student getting my bachelor's degree in Marine Biology, so I know that students only retain 10% of information if it is lectured to them first hand. I specialize in creating interactive games and scenarios in which students see the material they are learning in action and thus absorb it.
The "light bulb moment". When the look on a student's face implies that it finally clicked - that is what I live for as a tutor. Every student learns differently and reading about learning styles and teaching theory is a guilty pleasure of mine. Every student of mine gets individual attention and I will work tirelessly until we reach the ligh tbulb moment!
My bachelor's degree is in Marine Biology and Enviromental Science, which I earned from Steton University - a small private school in central Florida. I took every science class my high school offered, including AP classes, and when I went to college, I began tutoring students in introductory biology classes in my second year, and carried on tutoring til the day I graduated. My mentoring professor was very progressive in her teaching style; she gave very few lectures since she believed students could read their textbooks at home and class time should be used for applying what they had already read. I whole-heartedly took on this method and could see the results when my students tested zip codes higher than students in other classes. The secret is interactive studying and application of knowledge. What I do for students is create activities and games that enable students to see how what they are learning works in action. Think of it this way - if you buy a piece of furniture from IKEA, some assemly required, you can read the instruction manual a million times, but unless you get to touch the pieces and see how and why certain ones do not belong together, all you have done is practiced reading.

Tutoring with me can be as personal or as impersonal as students wish, however, I recommend face-to-face time as interactive learning and study techniques are my specialty. First, let me know if you are looking for a long term tutoring contract (ie for a whole semester or year) or help on a specific project or topic. Next, I will need a syllabus, course schedule, or a project or topic description as is appropriate. If what you need falls under the umbrella of my expertise, then away we go! If I think there is a more specialized tutor out there that is better suited for you, I will let you know at this time.
I have worked with middle school, high school and college level students in a wide range of science topics, in both the American and British cirriculum structures.

The personalized curriculum was only topped by the creativity and positivity of my tutor! She's one of the best tutors I have ever had!
Maranda Camp is an amazing tutor, I would not have passed biology 1 or 2 without her help! She not only takes the concept and explains them slowly but she also makes fun games to study from. She has a hands on and interactive tutoring style that allowed me to not only memorize the Information but to truly understand it and be able to apply it to larger concepts and overall systems. Her ability to breakdown concepts and explain them in simplistic terms makes her a tutor that I would definitely recommend to anyone.
I can honestly say that Mandy Camp is the best tutor I’ve ever had! She takes the time to make sure I understand every important detail, and you can tell she is passionate about what she does! I wish all tutors were as dedicated as she is. :)
The service I received was not only carefully prepared and personalized, but it was an effective form of reviewing concepts and sharpening critical thinking skills.
From the start, my tutor Mandy informed me on what I would learn and the way that I would learn it. She gave me helpful assessments and handouts that prepared me not only for my Biology 101 course at the time, but all of my future science courses.
If you are searching for a solid understanding of all course material, Light Bulb Moment Science Tutoring is your best bet, especially if it's with Mandy!View more recommendations
