About Ricky
For each student, I provide a customized lesson plan that takes into account their current skill level and music preference. I believe that the best way to teach music concepts to beginning students is to use songs that they enjoy. This way, the students may better understand what they're learning by applying it to what they already know and understand.
The one thing I enjoy most about teaching is seeing the moment that a student is first able to get through a piece. While rehearsing with the student ensembles at CIJS, I always enjoyed the excitement on their faces when they first play a song all the way through. It's a joy that I've always had and I would love to share it with others.
