Coach shango has a bachelor's in psychology and earning a master's in professional counseling. Coach has dedicated his life coaching and mentoring youth. With over 20 years of experience learning the game at Langley Park boys and girls club. Coach Shango loves helping athletes develop their game shooting, rebounding, and ball handling. Like painting a picture and watching it go from all these lines on a page to a masterpiece.

Coach Moses would always bring me to his practices with the AAU team at LP. Where he would have me get on the floor  and help the players. Guard and play defense or help with postioning. Then he would talk to me about the game , and the importance on working and developing parts of the body. 

these things were like studying the human body which made sense to me - it was natural that athletes have to work on their knees, and upper body. To better themselves. 

Not only did it make sense - I also felt a completion of satisfaction to watch and learn from an athlete - and then help that same athlete better themself in the weightroom and on the floor.

Evaluation, Student story, Stepping on the court, Goals, and plan. 

Evaluation is key to begin training any athlete to bring out the best in the student.

1). Students' story: This is where you build rapport and learn from the student their passions, do's and don't, and how they view themselves and their game. 

2). Step on the court: This is to gain clarity of the athlete's abilities. How they think and react as well as shooting, dribbling, and defense. (run basic drills)

3). Goals/Plans: The athlete knows themselves better than anyone. Collab coach and athlete to prepare the best plan to reach the goals that have been set. To bring out the best in that athlete.

Just because people train or work you out does not mean they are the right person for you. As an athlete look for someone who not only understands how to train, but that understands you. This person can work with you, understand you, and mentor you on and off the court. Sometimes the best trainers may help you with diet, but not all trainers may know how to help you once you leave the floor. Off the floor is just as important as on the floor. 



"The best of the south" event is a great program that helps youth gain exposure and set goals as a team. This is where basketball teams from 12 - 17 years in age come together in Atlanta the ATL each year and ball. Normally there will be 25 - 30 games being played at a time. For 4 days watching youth who have worked hard to showcase their talents.
