About Patrick

I have an extensive background in history, and have been substitute teaching for a year and a half. I have been a private tutor for 7 years (including peer tutoring in high school) and a professional tutor for 1 year. I tutor at colleges through their department tutor programs and through high schools for students who need it. I am currently working on my adolescent education teaching certification for social studies, grades 7-12.

I love my subject area, and I love teaching. It has been a passion of mine for awhile. Seeing student progress and helping them achieve their goals is very satisfying.

I've always loved sharing knowledge with other people, so I started doing it for money. It is the best of both worlds.

I am a college student working on my teaching certification in adolescent education, social studies grades 7-12. I have been substitute teaching for a year and a half, private tutoring for 7 years, and professional tutoring for 1 year. I work for colleges for their history and education departments as a professional tutor.

About the lesson

First I start off with assessing their proficiency in the subject, then I work off of that. I take it slow at first to make sure I can get a grasp of their learning style, and then I adapt to fit them.

I have worked with Elementary school students all the way up the adult students. I have also worked with students with disabilities. Specifically, I have worked with children with autism, ADHD, anxiety and Down syndrome

Don't be afraid to shop around. History teachers usually have an area of specialty. I personally focus on ancient history (Global 9 and 10), but other teachers will focus on US history, geography, government, etc. Don't be afraid to cut ties if it is not working.

I attended an online conference on Rome and the Roman Republic/Empire. There were expert panels, artifacts, Q&As, and more. It was fantastic.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
They should really think about what ways they learn best. But a good teacher will be able to pinpoint the student needs and work with them from there.

Usually it depends upon the age of the student, what they need in tutoring, and how I'll be able to help them succeed. I typically start at around $30 an hour, and I try not to go over $50 an hour. The only way to find out a price for sure is to contact me with details.
