About Kelly
I motivate my students by creating an encouraging environment for them to learn. It’s important to me that my students know they have a place here and feel welcome in my classroom. I
believe there is a strong need to develop self-determination, a sense of ownership, and self-discipline. It’s my job to help them achieve these goals, but I can't do that alone. It takes help to make this successful, so a strong relationship with parents is essential! Teachers have to build those important relationships from the start and maintain good daily communication with parents.
We should encourage them to get involved and we should make our classrooms open to them.
I want my students to be educated risk takers. In order to be a risk taker, they need to know that mistakes are expected and mistakes are accepted! Mistakes and setbacks help us all to learn! So, maybe you make the same mistake time and time again but you will learn and grow to be a wiser person. I try to ensure that children have the opportunity for contributory activities. When kids think they are making a positive difference in the world or even just in the classroom, they gain a sense of purpose and meaning! I strive to create a climate and culture of acceptance and individualism. It all comes back to treating others the way you want to be treated.

I was selected as Teacher of the Year for the North Little Rock School District. This was due to my innovative efforts to fundraise, write grants and teach the “whole child”. I believe that building relationships with students, parents, teachers and the community are essential for success! I am innovative and a lifelong learner.
