About Mcr
I am a retired teacher of academic English. I taught for over two decades, here in Sydney and in China and Indonesia. I currently study Latin at university. I am an Australian male, and I enjoy learning new things and keeping fit. I think I have a good intuitive understanding of the learning difficulties overseas students have to overcome.

To write an essay at university level, first you must know something about your topic. This may first require building up your background knowledge of the topic and the issues typically connected to that topic. Next you must search for suitable peer-reviewed articles that answer an essay question, then be able to summarize and paraphrase some main ideas from those research papers. Finally we need to focus on how to use that information to write your essay in a structured introduction, body and conclusion. It seems like a lot, but once you start to practice it, you can make significant improvements in your essay writing, and remember, essays are the main assessment tasks at university.
