About Bijal
Hi! I’m a Software Engineer with over 15 years of experience, and I love helping students understand how computers actually work. I’ve worked at companies like NBN and IBM, but one of my favorite roles was tutoring at RMIT University.
I know that subjects like programming, algorithms, and data structures can feel overwhelming. My goal is to break these "scary" topics down into simple, easy-to-grasp concepts. Because I’ve spent years writing, debugging, and testing software, I can help you visualize exactly what each line or block of your code does in relation to the big picture of your project.
For example, I built a logic engine for a snake game in C that handles 8-directional movement using Linked Lists - a perfect example of how the basics you learn in class can build something fun and functional.
I’m also currently diving deep into Cybersecurity with certifications like CompTIA Security+, so I can help you learn how to keep your code safe from attacks.
How I can help you:
★ Crush your CS classes: I’ve taught C, Algorithms, binary number systems, and Network Communications at the university level, so I know how to help those concepts click.
★ Master the Basics: Whether it’s Python, SQL, C or even Assembly, I'll help you build a rock-solid foundation.
★ Learn Linux: I can teach you how to use Linux for your daily projects or professional work.
★ Real-World Projects: We can discuss how the things you learn in class are actually used at companies like NBN and IBM.
So, let's discuss your next lesson or project - what part are you finding difficult?

Drawing from my tutoring/teaching assistance experience at RMIT University (2+ years),
I will:
★ Explain complex programming concepts in easy-to-grasp concepts, with the use of whiteboard and live coding
★ Show the power of various data structures and algorithms to solve programming tasks
★ Guide you with decomposing your own problem statement
★ Demonstrate various debugging approaches
★ Challenge you with custom hands-on coding exercises, aligned to your goal, to perform under my guidance and as homework too (if preferred)

Full disclosure: this tutor is my dad.
As a psychology student, computer programming was never really my strong suit. During my time at Melbourne Uni studying Python and C, I found the units incredibly difficult. The subjects were taught at a fast pace and at a complex level, so having someone break everything down more clearly than a university typically has time to do made a real difference. I genuinely appreciated how topics were simplified without feeling talked down to.
The tutoring support I received on my Python and C assignments saw me walk away with distinctions and high distinctions on assignments, which honestly wasn’t something I expected given how challenging I found those subjects.
Since moving into my postgraduate degree at Adelaide University, my strongest work has actually been in R, where I’ve excelled in my statistics subjects, and that has done a lot for my overall WAM. Due to the tutoring I received in undergraduate IT subjects, I was able to independently work with R and feel confident in my studies.
The way we’d approach each assignment was pretty simple. We’d start by going through the rubric together so I actually understood what was being asked, then work through the material from there. If something was too complex, he’d break it down. If I still wasn’t getting it, we’d take a step back and go at it a different way until it clicked. The feedback he gave me along the way was always detailed and actually helpful, not just surface level.
Bias aside, if you need an IT tutor who is patient, clear, and knows how to get you results, I genuinely recommend him.View more recommendations
