About Achilleas

I am a Software Engineer and Data Scientist with professional experience developing analytical software, full-stack web applications, and data-driven solutions. I hold an MSc in Bioinformatics and have worked with Python, R, SQL, Linux, and modern software development tools to build applications used in both scientific research and industry.

I enjoy helping others develop practical programming skills and believe the best way to learn is by writing real code and solving real problems. My lessons focus on building confidence through hands-on exercises and projects rather than simply memorising theory.

Whether you are learning Python for the first time, preparing for university coursework, or looking to improve your programming skills for research or work, I will tailor each lesson to your goals and experience. I aim to create a relaxed and supportive learning environment where questions are always encouraged, and every lesson builds towards practical, real-world programming skills.

About the lesson

My lessons are designed to help students build practical programming skills through hands-on projects rather than memorising theory. Whether you are completely new to programming or looking to strengthen your existing knowledge, I will adapt each lesson to your experience and learning goals.

The course focuses primarily on Python programming and Linux/Bash, providing the skills needed for software development, data analysis, automation, and scientific computing.

Topics can include:

* Introduction to Linux and essential Bash commands
* Installing and working with Python and Jupyter Notebooks
* Python syntax, variables, loops, functions, and object-oriented programming
* Reading from and writing to files
* Working with libraries such as Pandas, NumPy, and Matplotlib
* Data analysis and visualisation
* Automating repetitive tasks with Python
* Building small real-world applications and projects
* Debugging techniques and writing clean, maintainable code
* Version control with Git and GitHub (optional)

My teaching style is practical and interactive, with every lesson including exercises and coding examples to help you gain confidence by writing real code.
