About Honey
Hi, I’m Honey! I’m a software developer based in Ottawa with over five years of professional experience building and supporting software applications. I hold a Bachelor of Engineering from Carleton University and a Full Stack Developer Certificate from Lighthouse Labs.
My experience includes JavaScript, TypeScript, React, Java, Node.js, and SQL, as well as mentoring developers and helping teammates work through technical challenges.
I know how frustrating programming can feel when something doesn’t click. I aim to create a welcoming space where you can ask questions, make mistakes, and learn at your own pace. Whether you’re starting from scratch or strengthening existing skills, I’ll help you understand the reasoning behind your code and build confidence solving problems independently.

My lessons are practical, patient, and tailored to your goals. Whether you’re learning programming for the first time or getting comfortable with a new framework, I break concepts into manageable steps and explain both how the code works and why.
A typical lesson starts with a quick discussion of what you want to learn and where you’re getting stuck. We then work through an example together before you apply the concept yourself, with guidance and feedback. We finish by reviewing what you’ve learned and identifying something to practise next.
I bring over five years of professional software development experience, along with experience mentoring developers and reviewing code. I connect lessons to real development practices, including debugging, writing readable code, and understanding how applications fit together. My goal is to help you become confident solving problems independently.
My lessons suit college and university students, coding bootcamp learners, career changers, and junior developers. I offer support with JavaScript, TypeScript, React, Java, Node.js, SQL, and general web development. For coursework, I guide your understanding and problem-solving so you can complete your own work.
