About Rubena

I have been teaching at an outstanding primary school based in the heart of London in Waltham Forest. Over the last 9 years, I have taught in both KS1 and KS2 and helped to prepare students for both KS1 and KS2 SATs.

I have developed excellent behaviour management strategies and am experienced to teach all areas of the primary curriculum.
I always hold high expectations of all the children I teach and plan my lessons with clear objectives to ensure that there is successful learning and progression.

Working with children of different needs and abilities is at the core of my teaching. I always research and try to use a range of teaching strategies to include them in lessons so that they can access the learning. I always adapt my teaching style depending on individual needs and have also helped advise colleagues I have worked taught and engaged learners of different abilities.

Planning across four schools in our school federation has given me the opportunity to further develop my ability to plan lessons so that all children are challenged and engaged. Working in a multicultural and diverse setting means that EAL learners are very common. This means that I have to differentiate my lessons specifically for these children, so they are included and able to still achieve their abilities. I believe talk is integral to developing language which is why I always plan opportunities for dialogue, questioning, individualised feedback in both self-assessment and teacher assessment. I am currently part of our school's Maths HUB, which champions maths mastery across our federation of schools, and thus have been involved in the planning, teaching, and development of maths across our school.

I have tutored several pupils privately over the past 5 years to support both KS1 and KS2 preparation for SATs. I have also closed gaps and misconceptions and accelerated the progress and attainment of pupils. I have also previously tutored for 11+, where successful pupils have been admitted to grammar school.
