About Dr

I am a PhD-trained epidemiologist and public health researcher who is genuinely passionate about helping students understand how evidence is generated and used to improve population health. I enjoy breaking down complex epidemiological and statistical concepts into clear, practical ideas that students can confidently apply in their studies and research.

My professional work involves population-based surveys, health systems assessments, and programme evaluations, mainly in low- and middle-income country settings. Because I work with real data and real policy questions, my teaching is grounded in practice rather than theory alone. I believe good learning happens when students feel supported, respected, and encouraged to ask questions, and I aim to create a calm, focused, and motivating learning environment.

I am patient, well-organised, and committed to high academic and ethical standards. Whether you are preparing for exams, working on a thesis, or building research skills, I take your goals seriously and work with you to help you succeed with confidence.

My lessons are grounded in the way epidemiology and public health research are practised in real-world settings. I focus on helping students understand not just how methods work, but why they are used and how to interpret results for research, policy, and programme decision-making. Teaching is highly applied: concepts are explained using examples from population health studies, surveillance data, impact evaluations, and health systems research. I emphasise critical thinking, correct interpretation of results, and common pitfalls in epidemiologic analysis.

Lessons typically last 60–90 minutes and are structured around the student’s goals, whether exam preparation, coursework support, thesis development, or applied data analysis. Sessions may include reviewing study designs, selecting appropriate analytical approaches, interpreting regression outputs, assessing bias and confounding, or working through datasets using tools such as Stata or R. I aim to make complex methods intuitive and relevant, especially for students planning to work in research, public health programmes, or policy environments.

I am a PhD-trained epidemiologist and public health researcher with experience in population-based surveys, health systems assessments, and programme evaluation in low- and middle-income country contexts. I have supported undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, supervised research projects, and worked on applied studies addressing non-communicable diseases, service delivery, equity, and health financing. This background allows me to link methodological rigour with practical public health questions.

My lessons are designed for undergraduate and postgraduate students, early-career researchers, and public health professionals aged 18 and above. They are especially well suited for learners in epidemiology, public health, biostatistics, or related fields who want to strengthen their analytical skills, improve research quality, and gain confidence in interpreting and using evidence for public health action.
