About Kirsty
Experienced and qualified violin, piano and music theory teacher. I have an Master of Art with Distinction from the Royal Academy of Music, as well as a Bachelor of Music with First class honours from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. I am a Licentiate of the Royal Academy of Music in music teaching.
I have vast performance experience and perform on a regular basis in a variety of ensembles - orchestras, chamber ensembles, quartets, trios, duos, including performances at BBC proms and on Radio 3. I am passionate, positive and enthusiastic, and believe myself to be very adaptable to different learning styles and personalities. I am a teacher of piano at the Stewart Bilingual School.
I have taught and coached chamber music for the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland Summer School. I hold an up to date DBS and a Child Protection in Music certificate.
I am based in West Norwood and travel to students house on a case by case basis. Reduced rates are available for online lessons. Please do not hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions!

I pride myself on my highly adaptable to different learning styles and personalities. I have a positive teaching style and am able to tailor my lesson style according to my students needs and goals. I am happy to support pupils through exams such as ABRSM if that is something they are interested in doing, and equally happy to teach primarily for the joy of learning. I am friendly, supportive and will always encourage the student to fulfil their potential.
I have a 100% distinction/merit pass rate for ABRSM exams, as well as qualifications in Kodaly teaching and hold an LRAM in teaching. I use methods from various teaching practices and like to cherry-pick strategies that I have found work best.
