I'm an experienced Primary teacher, specialising in English - English tutor with Sue

I have known Sue Penhallow both as a friend and as a professional colleague for twenty-five years, working alongside her at two different primary schools in the south of Birmingham. As a trained tutor myself, I have observed the way in which Sue had developed the confidence and skills of many pupils, nurturing their abilities as readers and writers. This has been evident in the outcome of the children's work and high achievement in their end of year KS2 SATs tests. Sue has shown a real passion for teaching and especially for literacy, with a strong academic understanding of the processes involved in the teaching of this subject. She has an extensive knowledge of children's texts and uses picture books imaginatively and effectively to stimulate her pupil’s understanding of language, as well as using a range of SATs materials. Sue has spent much of her professional career working with year 6 pupils: as a class teacher, an intervention teacher and a one-to-one tutor.

Having worked with Sue for many years, I know that she is a dedicated, patient and enthusiastic teacher who knows how to get the best from her students. She is very experienced at working with children of different ability levels, and I know many people that she has inspired with her love of literacy.
