About Claryse
After working and volunteering in a multitude of educational environments, I am confident that I can reach and relate to a variety of types of students. I went to public school myself, and was able to encounter subjects and tests that I may not have otherwise. Though there are many tough or complex topics to learn in our academics, I like to twist it around to be something that is attainable for any student to become confident in.

In our sessions, I am enthusiastic, consistent, and extremely flexible! Outside of our sessions, I am preparing to make our time together as maximized and enriching as possible. Whether it be refreshers of content we already learned or a challenging problem to stretch our minds beyond what we thought, I work hard to have my students leave feeling both satisfied and curious. We usually begin with a brain warm-up to see how we feel about the provided topic, then discuss how we usually can interact with these types of problems or passages. After we move on to a guided lesson with a couple of practices, I like to have the students imagine they are a teacher of their own, and I hand the reins over! This empowers the student to teach the lesson in words they understand, as well as take pauses and think through processes they don't fully know themselves. To end the sessions, I ask what questions they have for me and let them know what to expect in our following sessions. As mentioned, I am certified to teach all elementary subjects, but I also enjoy working one-on-one with middle school students! I have played the viola for nearly 15 years, and I often find students can relate to our lessons through their very own hobbies or extracurricular activities.
