About Sonia

As a passionate and experienced French Teacher, I am dedicated to helping students of all levels achieve their language goals. With a background in French Literature and a Bachelor of Education specialization in teaching French Immersion (UBC), I have taught both French Immersion and FSL within the public school system in several school districts within Greater Vancouver. Since 2020, I have been focused on my own private students. Whether you are preparing for exams, planning a trip, or simply looking to improve your proficiency, I am here to support and guide you every step of the way. A first lesson with me is free. We can discuss your learning issues and goals.

About the lesson

I have been teaching French for over 25 years and my lessons are offered in person (local libraries on the North Shore or my Delbrook home) or through Zoom or Google Docs for editing written work. My academic support enables students to develop:

1) speaking skills
2) writing skills
3) reading comprehension
4) oral comprehension

Students benefit from my lessons that focus on:
*preparing for exams (DELF and DALF) and presentations
* becoming proficient with the grammatical structures to drill
the course content offered at school

For example, many of my students would like to improve their mastery of French grammar which in turn leads to better writing skills and less stress with confronted with verb tenses within the classroom.

Private Tutoring enables students to bridge the gaps in their learning to make sure any lapses do not become insurmountable. I am here to help by providing learning material and my own resources to target problem areas.

My approach is patient and relaxes. I supplement with material to reinforce learning. We can review schoolwork, prepare for tests and assignments for which extra support is required.

My overall goal is to make learning more enjoyable and stress free which translates into resolving issues before they overwhelm my students and hinder further learning.
