About Jia

As a certified Mandarin tutor with over three years of teaching experience, I am fully dedicated to helping you achieve your language goals. Whether you're starting from scratch or looking to refine your Mandarin skills, you can trust that I have the expertise and passion to guide you through each step of your learning journey.

I hold a Chinese Teacher Qualification Certificate, ensuring that my methods are up to professional standards. My teaching is backed by a Bachelor’s degree in Chinese Language and Literature from one of China's top universities, Tongji University. Currently, I am pursuing my MSc in Entrepreneurship and Innovation at Trinity College Dublin, which gives me a solid foundation in teaching learners of all backgrounds.

I believe every student is unique, and I tailor my lessons to suit your personal needs, whether you are looking to enhance your conversational skills, prepare for exams, or deepen your understanding of Chinese culture. My flexible and personalized approach, combined with engaging and interactive lessons, ensures that you can learn Mandarin in a way that is both effective and enjoyable.

With a proven track record of success, including working with students from international schools during my time in Shanghai, I am confident in my ability to help you progress. I strive to create a supportive and professional learning environment where you can feel confident and motivated to improve.

Let’s work together to build your Mandarin fluency and achieve your goals!

About the lesson

My Approach to Tutoring:

As a native Mandarin speaker with over three years of experience teaching students from diverse backgrounds, my teaching approach is highly student-centered and adaptable to each individual’s learning style and needs. I believe in creating a supportive and engaging environment where students can feel confident to express themselves and actively participate in the learning process.

Teaching Methodology:

I incorporate a range of interactive and engaging techniques to make learning Mandarin enjoyable and effective. My lessons typically include:

Conversational practice: Encouraging students to use Mandarin in practical, real-life situations.
Multimedia resources: Using videos, songs, and online tools to aid comprehension and make lessons dynamic.
Customized lesson plans: Each lesson is tailored to the student's specific goals, whether it’s for academic purposes, business, or personal interest.
Focus on pronunciation and tones: Given the tonal nature of Mandarin, I emphasize correct pronunciation and tone mastery early on to help build a strong foundation.
Cultural insights: Understanding Chinese culture is key to mastering the language, so I often incorporate cultural references to give context to the language.
Lesson Duration:

Each session typically lasts 60 minutes, but I am flexible and can adjust the length depending on the student's preferences and learning goals.

Qualifications and Experience:

Native Mandarin speaker with fluent English proficiency.
Bachelor's degree in Chinese Language and Literature from Tongji University.
Currently pursuing an MSc in Entrepreneurship and Innovation at Trinity College Dublin.
Over three years of experience teaching Mandarin both online and in-person to students ranging from beginners to advanced levels.
Chinese Teacher Qualification Certificate (achieved in 2018).
Who the Lessons Are For:

I welcome students of all ages and levels. Whether you are:

A beginner starting from scratch.
An intermediate learner looking to improve your fluency.
An advanced speaker refining your skills for business or academic purposes.
I am here to guide you on your Mandarin learning journey with personalized and supportive lessons.
