About Mike
I’m a DJ and event organizer with over 8+ years of experience across multiple genres, including funk, disco, house, techno, downtempo, left-field sounds, and the darker shades of psytrance. My journey began in 2003, collecting vinyl and honing my craft at house parties and intimate club events in Amsterdam. Since then, I’ve played in major clubs across Kuala Lumpur and Saigon, hosted outdoor renegade parties in Victoria, and now run successful Psytrance club nights in Melbourne with Solve et Coagula. What sets me apart is my focus on both artistry and professionalism. I believe that DJing is about more than just beat-matching—it’s about creating a vibe, telling a story, and connecting with your audience.
Whether you're a beginner learning the basics or an intermediate DJ refining your technique, my lessons are tailored to your unique goals. My teaching style is hands-on, supportive, and rooted in real-world experience. I’ll listen to your goals, review your demos (if you have them), and help you build confidence behind the decks while expanding your musical style. I also offer a crash course in Ableton Live for anyone interested in exploring sound design and non-linear arrangement.

Discover the art of DJing with a versatile DJ and event organiser with 8+ years of experience! My lessons are personalised for beginners and intermediates, covering everything from mixing techniques to running your own events. I aim to teach you everything I wish I knew when starting out myself, to accelerate the process of you becoming a club/doof DJ.
We’ll start with a chat about your goals and review any demo mixes to identify areas to work on. I tailor each session to your needs—whether it’s perfecting your beat-matching, crafting unique sets, or learning how to organise unforgettable parties.
What I offer:
DJing techniques: mixing, beat-matching, track selection, track organisation, and creating diverse, engaging sets
Genres: funk, disco, house, techno, downtempo, left-field, and the darker sides of Psytrance
Event organizing: how to plan, promote, and execute your own club nights or outdoor parties
Bonus: a crash course in Ableton Live for sound design and non-linear arrangement basics
We can use your equipment or if you want to get club ready on Pioneer equipment we can use my setup for an additional fee. 2 x XDJ 1000mk2 and DJM 750, almost as good as the CDJ 2000's.

Use of my equipment is an additional $50 per session, which can be discounted for bulk purchases of lesson hours.
We can price something specific for you based on the first discovery call.
We can also use an external studio space that has full professional Pioneer spec setup, which is hired by the hour from $40 p/h.
