About Tylo

I’m a dedicated and experienced math tutor with over 4 years of tutoring experience and 3 years as a Teacher Aide supporting learners across a range of abilities. I tutor students from Years 1 to 12, both online and in person, and I specialize in building confidence and closing knowledge gaps through a calm, encouraging, and student-focused approach. What sets me apart is not just my academic background—a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and ongoing Postgraduate Diploma in Teaching—but my personal journey. Having been diagnosed with ADHD at a young age, I understand the challenges many students face in traditional learning environments. This lived experience fuels my passion and empathy, enabling me to connect deeply with students and support them in finding their own strengths and learning strategies. Whether you or your child is struggling to grasp the basics or looking to excel further, I bring a professional, understanding, and results-focused mindset to each lesson. My teaching is guided by patience, consistency, and a belief that with the right support, every learner can succeed. About the lesson

My tutoring approach is grounded in empathy, clarity, and responsiveness to individual learning needs. I work with students from Years 1–12 and offer both online and in-person lessons across New Zealand. Each session is tailored to meet the learner where they are, whether they need support catching up, maintaining progress, or extending their understanding.

I use a range of strategies including visual representations, step-by-step guidance, real-world examples, and targeted questioning to deepen understanding and promote mathematical thinking. Lessons typically run between 45 minutes to 1 hour, depending on the student's age and concentration span.

I have a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and am currently completing my Postgraduate Diploma in Teaching. These qualifications support my ability to design lessons that are not only academically sound but also developmentally appropriate.

My lessons are suited to students of all ability levels—those needing additional support, those who benefit from structured guidance, and those seeking to extend their learning. I particularly enjoy helping students overcome their anxieties around maths and seeing them grow in confidence as they make progress.
