About Darren
I have been teaching maths up to GCSE level (and Access to Higher Education) for the last 15 years mostly in college working with 14-24-year-olds. I have been OFSTED inspected while teaching this subject 3 times and on each occasion was rated as Outstanding. My speciality is working with learners who really struggle with maths and need personal attention to improve their skills.

My main teaching strategy is to engage learners with the subject. I do this by providing good levels of initial assessment and then providing tailored courses to individuals or small groups. My aim is to always make learning interesting and measurable so my students can see and feel the improvement they are making. All my maths lessons start with the phrase DON'T PANIC as I have found the biggest limitation on people's ability to learn maths is their own lack of confidence rather than any lack of ability or intellect.
