About Palesa

I am an experienced researcher and teacher. My passion lies in regenerative agriculture and soil science and agri-tech. I've submitted my thesis looking at Conservation Agriculture and soil quality in small-scale farming systems. My undergraduate degree is in Geology and honours in Environmental Soil Science. I've been teaching and tutoring for more than 5 years and have experience at all levels. I've tutored privately and taught for 2 years at Phumlani Secondary School.

About the lesson

I am very patient and believe in "practice makes perfect". This means that after thoroughly explaining a concept to a learner, we practice a few examples and then the student needs to practice on their own until the concept is grasped. I also believe in visual and exploratory learning. Watching videos, linking ideas and concepts to real life. Learners need to understand why they are learning what they are learning and how it fits into reality. I also believe in rewards systems and taking breaks. Learning must be fun and the student must be motivated. Young learners love little gifts like a small chocolate or an extended break. Older learners also like receiving positive feedback and recognition.
