About Jacquelyn

Learning Italian completely changed my life. When I first traveled to Italy, I realized how much I couldn’t connect — not because people weren’t welcoming, but because I didn’t speak a single word of the language. Once I committed to learning Italian, everything opened up: deeper relationships, a new understanding of culture, and even a stronger sense of who I am. I eventually reached a C1 level through full-immersion programs, countless language exchanges, and finding a study method that truly matched how I learn best. This experience gave me a passion for helping others discover how meaningful (and confidence-building!) language learning can be. I love tailoring lessons to a student’s interests — whether that’s food, travel, art, or even weightlifting (one of my own passions). If you love fitness, for example, we can run an entire lesson as if we’re in an Italian fitness class together. My goal is to make learning Italian personal, fun, and empowering — so you can connect more deeply with the world and with yourself.

About the lesson

Hello, I’m Jacquelyn. I’ve been tutoring and supporting language learners for over a decade, and Italian has been a major part of my academic and professional life. After college, I immersed myself in Italian language and culture through a highly rigorous full-immersion master’s program at Middlebury College, where all coursework, writing, and daily interactions were conducted entirely in Italian. Over multiple academic and personal experiences in Italy from 3-months to a full year, I participated in countless language exchanges with native speakers, which helped me develop natural fluency and confidence in real conversational settings.

I spent a full school year teaching English in two Italian high schools, working with students in grades 9 and 10. I supported learners with grammar, reading, conversation, pronunciation, and exam preparation. While in Italy, I engaged deeply with local culture, classroom practices, and regional communication styles, all of which influence my teaching today.

My teaching style is warm, patient, and encouraging. I never rely on one rigid method; instead, my approach blends immersion, structured grammar support, guided conversation, and authentic materials so lessons feel both meaningful and manageable. I work intentionally on building students’ self-efficacy—helping them develop the confidence to speak, write, and think in Italian, especially in a time when it can feel easier to turn to AI tools instead of building true, lasting fluency. Progress is always trackable, with clear goals and regular check-ins. Most importantly, my lessons are fun and incorporate music, film and all kinds of materials that incorporate culture and cater to multiple styles of learning.

Whether you’re a beginner, working toward full conversational comfort, or hoping to strengthen academic or travel-related Italian, I’ll tailor lessons to your needs and interests. I help students connect their learning to real-life experiences so Italian feels engaging, personal, and truly alive.

I was really struggling with an upcoming exam, i had already taken it 3 times and wasn’t able to pass. That’s when i reached out to Jackie and she helped make the lessons fun and after a month or so i retook the exam and i was able to pass. I would definitely recommend her as a future tutor!
