About Laura

I'm Laura, a qualified teacher (QTS) with an enhanced DBS and over 12 years of KS1 classroom experience. I specialise in helping Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 children grow in confidence with Phonics, Early Reading and KS1 Learning.

I create a calm, supportive environment where young learners feel safe, encouraged and proud of their progress. My teaching style is gentle, structured and fully personalised; perfect for children who need a little extra reassurance or a boost in confidence.

Sessions take place in my quiet home office in South Croydon, a warm distraction-free space where your child can settle quickly and enjoy learning. I focus on building strong foundations in phonics, blending, tricky words, comprehension and early reading skills.

I send a short update after each session so you can see exactly what we covered and how your child is progressing.

About the lesson

My lessons are calm, friendly and fully personalised to your child’s needs. I specialise in phonics, early reading and KS1 maths, helping children grow in confidence through gentle, supportive teaching. Each session is fun, practical and structured, designed to build strong foundations at a pace that feels comfortable for your child.

KS1 children learn best in shorter, focused sessions, so lessons are 30 or 45 minutes rather than a full hour.

I begin with a gentle initial assessment to understand your child’s starting point, then shape each lesson around what they need next.

I use a mix of hands‑on resources, targeted phonics practice and confidence‑building reading tasks. My aim is always to help your child feel relaxed, motivated and secure while developing the skills they need for KS1 success.

Details

As explained above, KS1 children learn best in shorter sessions. Therefore, I offer 30‑minute lessons for £30 and 45‑minute lessons for £40.
