About Ren
First and foremost I am an enthusiastic and knowledgeable qualified teacher with over 25 years of being a teacher and leader who generates a growth mindset , a love of learning and accelerated progress with my students.
I have had successful experience teaching across the primary age range, especially in SATs year groups where my pupils made above national progress and attained well above the national average . I have an excellent understanding of teaching and learning and have a proven track record of gaining results .
I am an experienced teacher who is also Reading Recovery trained and therefore have the skills to teach young children to read and write . I have been a SENCO and understand how to teach children with a diverse range of needs. I am also a champion of the most able and have developed ways to challenge all .
I have tutored children both 1:1 and in small groups successfully. I have recently taught children online in KS1 how to read and they are now performing above national expectations. I have also experience of challenging the most able, especially in maths . I have a comprehensive knowledge of EYFS and the Primary Curriculum, including developing reading , writing , phonics, spelling , grammar and punctuation . I can also teach GCSE maths.
I also hold a fully enhanced DBS check and have been a designated safeguarding lead in schools for over 15 years .

I run my lessons using a mix of practical, problem solving activities where prior learning is reinforced and where new learning is introduced and embedded. I want children to question and learn from first hand experience .
I am well prepared and use a variety of resources to engage my students often using their own interests , digital media and art to engage and captivate them. I also give them home learning tasks to review their new learning and this is communicated to parents . I use positive praise and am constantly questioning my pupils and enabling them to ask higher order questions and explain their learning . I assess children constantly and give them feedback to move them into the next stage of their learning . I ensure I am available via email between sessions to support them in their learning .
