About Steven
I have worked overseas for 20 years in international schools in South Korea and China. Previously, I also taught classes at the community college and the university level in the US. I hold a Master's degree in History from BYU in the US; I worked on my PhD dissertation at Vanderbilt University for a number of years. Prior to that time, I obtained undergraduate degrees from Dalhousie U and Acadia U in Canada. I am teacher certified by the province of Nova Scotia (Canada). My student outcomes in AP, IGCSE, and IB History have been significantly above the world average.

I am an experienced educator who has been able to help students achieve top outcomes in DP History, AP US History, IGCSE History, and IB Theory of Knowledge. I have experience working with a wide range of students; I especially have had success helping students whose first language was not necessarily English. My lessons focus on students acquiring key content relative to the subject, as well as critical thinking skills through encouraging student reflection on key issues. I believe that all students can be successful. My strong academic background, my years involved in education, and my successful outcomes as measured by student external exam results, help to set me apart from other tutors.
