About Sean

I am an experienced private tutor with over four years of teaching History, Maths and Science, and specialise in online tuition.

I graduated from the University of Nottingham with First Class Honours in History and have since completed a postgraduate Master's degree in Law. Alongside tutoring, I now work in the legal sector.

I have taught students across a wide range of abilities, from those looking to improve their confidence and strengthen their subject knowledge to those aiming for the highest GCSE grades. I focus on making difficult topics clear and helping students develop strong written arguments and exam technique.

About the lesson

Lessons are usually one hour and are tailored to each student's ability, syllabus, goals and areas for improvement.

As an online tuition specialist, I structure lessons to keep students engaged and actively working throughout. We will normally begin with a short recap of previous material before developing subject knowledge through discussion, questioning and focused activities.

For GCSE students, I place a strong emphasis on exam technique, including essay planning, source analysis and understanding exactly what different questions require.

I encourage students to develop their own arguments and use evidence effectively, with targeted feedback helping them identify where marks are being gained and how their answers can be improved.

Perfect! Sean is very personable and replied promptly to any queries I had when I was arranging sessions for my daughter who is studying A-level History. He created the sessions around areas my daughter was struggling with and was very flexible with the way he gave feed back and marking of work. I would highly recommend him as my daughter has and is finding his help and sessions definitely helping her understanding of the areas they are working on together.
