About Nick
I am an experienced History teacher with over 10 years of classroom teaching experience, most recently at Sutton Grammar School. I have taught students across Key Stage 3, GCSE and A Level, helping them develop strong historical knowledge, analytical skills and exam confidence.
Alongside teaching, I have experience of exam marking, giving me a clear understanding of assessment criteria and what examiners are looking for in high-scoring answers. I am professional, reliable and well-organised, and I aim to create a calm, supportive learning environment in which students feel confident to ask questions and challenge themselves.
I am committed to helping each student reach their full potential through clear explanations, structured lessons and focused feedback.

My approach to tutoring is structured, supportive and exam-focused. I tailor each lesson to the student’s level and learning style, building subject knowledge alongside strong essay-writing and exam technique. I use past questions, mark schemes and model answers to help students understand exactly how to access top marks.
Lessons typically last 60 minutes, though longer sessions can be arranged if needed. I regularly set targeted practice tasks and provide clear feedback to help students make consistent progress.
I have 10 years’ experience teaching History, most recently at Sutton Grammar School, and I also have experience of exam marking, which allows me to give students valuable insight into examiner expectations.
My lessons are suitable for Key Stage 3, GCSE and A Level students, supporting both those who need confidence-building and those aiming for top grades.
