About Sarah
I am a qualified and experienced English teacher with over 10 years of teaching experience in both the UK and internationally. I have held senior and middle leadership positions, including Head of English and Deputy Head of Department, and have taught students across KS3, GCSE, IGCSE and A-Level.
Throughout my career, I have supported students of a wide range of abilities, from those who lack confidence in English to high-achieving students aiming for the very top grades. I have extensive experience teaching English Language and Literature, preparing students for examinations and helping them develop the analytical and writing skills needed to succeed.
I particularly enjoy tutoring because it allows me to give students the individual attention that isn’t always possible in a busy classroom. My aim is to make English feel manageable, build genuine confidence and help every student recognise what they are capable of achieving.

My lessons are tailored to each student’s individual needs, whether they are aiming to secure a pass, move up a grade boundary or achieve the very highest grades. I focus on developing the skills examiners are looking for, including detailed language and literature analysis, essay structure, creative writing, comprehension and effective exam technique.
I use targeted questioning, model answers, past-paper practice and personalised feedback to identify gaps and build confidence. Rather than simply teaching students what to write, I help them understand how to think, analyse and construct a strong response independently.
Lessons are supportive but challenging, with clear targets and practical strategies students can immediately apply to their schoolwork and examinations. I can also tailor tuition to specific texts, exam boards and areas where a student is currently struggling.
