About Innocentia

I began my journey to home-based education in January 2024 and I knew that I was making an excellent choice for my children. I understood the level of commitment that the role of an educational facilitator would require. As a result, I committed every day and even weekends, to ensure that my children received the best of two worlds: a nurturing mother who would instill confidence in them and a firm facilitator who believed in them and challenged them beyond their limits.

My academic background includes 2 years at the University of Johannesburg (2016-2017) where I pursued a BA in Journalism and majored in Communications. I also hold a 120-hour TEFL certificate and have enrolled in the Arizona State University TESOL course. Throughout my tertiary experience, I have mastered communication, writing and research skills, which are utilized in my professional and personal pursuits.

As a former au pair, I had the opportunity to provide personal support to my students in a one-on-one environment that nurtured their overall development and academic achievement.
I assisted with the following tasks:

Transporting learners to school and back, providing personal care, meal preparation, homework assistance, age-appropriate tutoring and stimulation, organisation of school attire, and running general errands such as grocery shopping and housekeeping. I also obtained a CPR and first aid level 1 certificate. I fulfilled this role from April 2022 - April 2023.

About the lesson

I offer the following services to learners ranging from grade 1 to grade 3:

• CAPS-aligned educational content for English home language, Mathematics, and Life skills
•Lesson planning using additional resources such as Twinkl, Khan Academy Kids, and Core Knowledge Foundation to challenge advanced learners
•Capturing of term assessment marks through the online learner portal
•Grading tasks and formative assessments
•Compiling a portfolio of evidence according to National Curriculum and Assessment Policy Statement
