About Emily

I am an experienced Year 7 - 12 English and VCE Legal Studies secondary school teacher available for specialised tutoring of English and/or Legal Studies. I have assessed for VCAA and authored textbooks, online resources and examinations for private education publishers. I provide individualised assistance and feedback to students in order to improve their results & outcomes. I have experience teaching EAL students, students with special learning needs and students who need adjusted and modified learning programs. I use evidence-based techniques proven to consolidate content knowledge as well as extend highly capable students. I am a qualified teacher with experience teaching VCE English and Legal studies in Years 10-12 in both private independent and government schools. In 2017 I was recognized by The Educator Online Publication as a Rising Star in Education. I am a qualified lawyer admitted to practice in Australia with experience in private corporate commercial legal practice and community legal centres. All qualifications from the University of Melbourne: Graduate Certificate in Educational Research (2021) Master of Teaching (Secondary) (2013) Bachelor of Laws (Honors) (2011) Bachelor of Arts (Media and Communications) (2011) Diploma of Modern Languages (Japanese) (2011) My personal tertiary entrance rank achieved (2004): 98.95

In terms of my approach to teaching, care deeply about helping every one of my students achieve their personal best. I get to know each student and what motivates them. I encourage them to continue to grow by taking their next step. This is highly effective in incentivising all students to continue to persevere.

About the lesson

We work on Zoom for 55 minutes. We set goals based on your recent assessment performance and/or questions and concerns. We actively revise content, review and co-construct model answers to practice questions and I read your practice responses outside of tutorials. I can also answer questions that arise over email about the content during the week.
