About Sarah

Hello! My name is Sarah, and I am a science teacher with 14 years of classroom experience and a Master's degree in Secondary Science Education. Throughout my career, I have helped students of all ability levels build confidence, improve grades, prepare for exams, and develop a deeper understanding of science.

I currently teach high school science and have extensive experience with Biology, Earth Science, Environmental Science, and AP Environmental Science. I have worked with honors students, English language learners, students with ADHD, and students who simply need extra support to be successful. This experience has taught me that every student learns differently, and I pride myself on finding explanations and strategies that work for each individual learner.

My goal as a tutor is not just to help students complete assignments or pass tests, but to help them truly understand the material and feel confident in their abilities. I create a supportive, encouraging learning environment where students can ask questions without fear of judgment and develop the skills they need to succeed independently.

As both a classroom teacher and tutor, I am professional, reliable, patient, and committed to helping students reach their goals. Whether you need ongoing support, help preparing for an upcoming exam, or assistance with a challenging topic, I look forward to helping you succeed.

I believe every student can be successful in science when concepts are explained in a way that makes sense to them. My approach focuses on building understanding rather than memorization, helping students develop confidence, critical thinking skills, and problem-solving strategies that they can use independently.

With 14 years of classroom experience teaching Biology, Earth Science, AP Environmental Science, and Environmental Science, I have worked with a wide range of learners, including honors students, AP students, English language learners, students with ADHD, and students who struggle with science and need additional support.

A typical lesson begins by identifying the student's goals, current understanding, and areas of difficulty. I then use targeted instruction, guided practice, visual models, real-world examples, and practice questions to strengthen understanding. Throughout the lesson, I continuously check for understanding and adjust my instruction to meet the student's needs. I also help students prepare for tests, improve study habits, and build confidence in challenging subjects.

What sets me apart is my combination of classroom experience, content expertise, and ability to explain complex scientific concepts in simple, approachable ways. As a practicing science teacher with a Master's degree in Science Education, I understand both the content and the common misconceptions that prevent students from being successful. I specialize in helping students move from confusion and frustration to confidence and mastery.

I work with middle school, high school, honors, AP, and introductory college-level students in Biology, Earth Science, Environmental Science, and AP Environmental Science. I also provide support with study skills, test preparation, organization, and scientific writing.
