About Malihah

I hold a BA (Hons) in English from Queen Mary University of London, where I achieved a 2:1. I also gained my PGCE in English from UCL’s Institute of Education (IOE), which is ranked first in the world for Education in the 2026 QS World University Rankings by Subject.

Through my teacher training, I gained classroom experience teaching English to students across Key Stages 3 and 4. This developed my ability to plan structured lessons, explain challenging concepts clearly and adapt my teaching to support students with different abilities and learning needs.

I have also been tutoring English since 2021, supporting students with reading comprehension, creative writing, literary analysis, essay writing and examination preparation. In addition, my experience working as a cover teacher in secondary schools has strengthened my ability to communicate effectively, build positive relationships with students and create a focused learning environment.

I understand that English can sometimes feel overwhelming, particularly when students are unsure how to begin an essay, organise their ideas or analyse a quotation in sufficient detail. I therefore break challenging skills into manageable steps and use clear explanations, models, sentence starters and targeted questions to help students become more confident and independent.

My aim is to provide a patient, encouraging and academically focused environment in which students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes and developing their abilities in English.

About the lesson

I offer supportive and structured English tuition for KS3, GCSE and A-level students, both online and in person in East London. My lessons are tailored to each student’s ability, areas for improvement and upcoming assessments.

For KS3 students, I can support them with:

• Reading comprehension and inference
• Analysing language, structure and characters
• Creative and descriptive writing
• Developing clear analytical paragraphs
• Grammar, punctuation and vocabulary
• Preparing for school assessments and building strong foundations for GCSE

For GCSE students, lessons can focus on:

• English Language and English Literature
• Understanding exam questions and assessment objectives
• Essay planning and timed responses
• Analysing quotations in detail
• Improving argument, structure and written expression
• Revising key texts, themes, characters and quotations
• Practising past-paper questions and exam technique

For A-level students, I can provide support with:

Close textual analysis
• Planning and structuring academic essays
• Developing clear and convincing arguments
• Incorporating context and critical interpretations
• Comparing literary texts
• Improving written expression and proofreading coursework

Each lesson will begin with a clear objective and include explanation, modelling, guided practice and independent application. I will provide constructive feedback and adapt the level of support as the student becomes more confident.

Lessons are £25 per hour, with a free 30-minute introductory lesson for new students. This gives us an opportunity to discuss the student's needs, identify areas for improvement and get to know each other before beginning regular lessons. Online lessons are £25 per hour, while in-person lessons may vary depending on location and travel time.
