About Jeanette

My name is Jeanette. I have tutored Primary School Students in reading and throughout the pandemic, became a Home-school tutor. I have taught GCSE English, improving the pupil's grade from a 5 to a 7 and tutored English as a second language in Spain. I recognise that my responsibility as a tutor is to CONNECT with my students and MOTIVATE them to want to attain more highly. Particularly as sessions are usually small or 1:1, it's important to LISTEN to them and UNDERSTAND how they learn. If a teaching method isn't working, we will find one which will.

About the lesson

I take the time to connect with the students and figure out what approach would best suit them and try to offer different ways of seeing challenging topics. I try to inject light-heartedness and fun into my classes without losing focus on the task at hand. Understanding why the students are there and trying to motivate them to want to improve is a core element of my approach.
