About Elle
I am a trainee barrister with a Russell Group education from the University of Exeter, currently completing a Master’s in Law and Legal Practice, alongside my work as an English tutor and performing arts teacher. I have over six years of experience working with children and young people and have developed a teaching style that combines academic rigour with encouragement, patience and creativity.
My academic background has given me a strong foundation in communication, critical analysis, essay writing and presenting complex ideas clearly. As a trainee barrister, I have developed particularly strong skills in constructing logical arguments, analysing evidence and communicating confidently, all of which I bring into my English teaching.
Alongside my academic and legal work, I am also a performing arts teacher, working with young people across a range of ages and abilities. This has strengthened my ability to engage students, adapt my teaching approach and create an environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and developing their confidence.
I believe that excellent tutoring is about more than simply improving grades. My aim is to help students become confident communicators, independent learners and thoughtful readers, while providing the structure, resources and encouragement they need to reach their potential.
I am professional, approachable and committed to providing a high standard of personalised tuition to every student I work with.

I am an experienced English Literature tutor with over six years of tutoring experience and 700+ hours of teaching, supporting students aged 11–18 across KS3, GCSE and A Level. I offer personalised online lessons tailored to each student's individual needs, ability, learning style and exam board.
My teaching approach is structured, supportive and confidence-led. I begin by identifying each student's strengths, areas for development and individual goals, before creating lessons around what they need most. I use guided analysis, questioning, discussion, model answers and exam-style practice to help students develop a deeper understanding of their texts and learn how to turn their knowledge into strong, analytical examination responses.
A key part of my tutoring is creating personalised revision packs for each student. These are tailored to their specific texts, topics and areas for development and can include key quotations, character and theme analysis, contextual information, literary and structural techniques, essay plans, exemplar paragraphs, sentence starters, useful terminology and targeted exam questions. Students therefore have a structured set of resources they can return to both between lessons and during independent revision.
I focus on the skills students need to succeed in English Literature, including essay structure, close language analysis, structural analysis, contextual understanding, comparative responses, developing alternative interpretations and constructing strong, evidence-based arguments. I also use past papers, mark schemes, examiner guidance and exemplar essays to help students understand exactly what examiners are looking for and how to apply their knowledge effectively.
I have experience teaching across AQA, Edexcel, OCR, WJEC, Eduqas and CCEA specifications as well as many others and have supported students with a wide range of abilities and learning needs, including SEND. I adapt my resources and teaching style where necessary to make challenging texts and concepts more accessible, while maintaining high academic expectations.
Lessons typically last one hour and are delivered online. I work with students from KS3 through to GCSE and A Level, whether they need ongoing support throughout the academic year, help improving their essay writing, targeted revision, examination preparation or simply greater confidence in English Literature.
My aim is not only to help students achieve their target grades, but to help them become confident, independent readers and writers who understand how to approach unfamiliar questions and construct their own thoughtful literary interpretations.
Online lessons are available Monday to Friday. In Person Tuition is available at an extra cost.

My lessons are £50 per hour, reflecting the level of experience, preparation and personalised resources included in each session.
With over six years of tutoring experience, 700+ hours of teaching and a strong academic background from the University of Exeter, I provide more than a standard one-hour lesson. Each session is planned around the individual student's needs, current areas of development and examination requirements.
A key part of my tuition is my personalised revision packs. Rather than providing the same generic resources to every student, I create revision materials around the texts and topics each student is studying. Depending on their needs, these can include key quotations, character and theme analysis, context, language and structural techniques, essay plans, exemplar paragraphs, sentence starters, terminology, exam questions and targeted revision activities.
These resources are designed to be used beyond the lesson, giving students a structured revision tool that they can return to throughout the academic year and when preparing for examinations. I also use past papers, mark schemes, examiner guidance and exemplar responses to ensure that lessons are focused on the specific skills students need to improve.
The £50 rate therefore reflects not only the hour spent teaching, but the individualised planning, resources, revision materials and examination expertise that go into supporting each student.
