About Laura

Hi! I’m Laura, an experienced K–12 educator who believes the best tutoring starts with getting to know the student—not just the subject they’re struggling with.

I have more than a decade of experience in education, including classroom teaching and instructional technology leadership, and I’ve worked with students across a wide range of ages, abilities, and learning styles. My approach is patient, encouraging, and flexible. If one explanation doesn’t click, we try another!

I can support students across K–12 subjects, with a special interest in test prep, study skills, and helping students become more confident and independent learners. I’m especially good at breaking down overwhelming material, identifying where a student is getting stuck, and finding practical strategies that make things feel manageable.

Most importantly, I want students to feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and being themselves. Learning doesn’t have to feel intimidating—and tutoring definitely shouldn’t.

Learning doesn’t look the same for every student—and tutoring shouldn’t either.

I’m an experienced K–12 educator with a background in elementary education, gifted education, instructional technology, and academic support. I work with students to figure out what’s getting in the way, build on what they already know, and find strategies that actually work for them.

I offer support across K–12 subjects, with a particular focus on test preparation, study skills, and academic confidence. Whether a student needs help strengthening foundational skills, preparing for an upcoming exam, organizing a mountain of assignments, or developing a strategy for a high-stakes test, I adapt each session to the student in front of me.

Tutoring support can include:

* ACT and standardized test preparation
* Test-taking strategies and practice
* Study skills, organization, and executive-function support
* Homework and assignment support
* Skill review and targeted intervention
* Enrichment for students who need an additional challenge

My approach is encouraging, practical, and low-pressure. The goal isn’t just to get through the next test—it’s to help students understand how they learn, develop strategies they can use independently, and feel more capable when they walk into the classroom or testing room.
