About Nicole

My name is Mrs. Obie, and I am an experienced educator with a Master's in Education and a Bachelor's in Psychology from the University of Tennessee at Martin. My dual background gives me a unique advantage — I understand both the science of learning and the art of teaching.

I have spent years in active Tennessee classrooms, teaching English Language Arts to TN standards and beyond. Every lesson I deliver is intentional, structured, and adapted to the individual student. I believe that confidence is built one small success at a time, and I make it my mission to create a safe, encouraging space where every learner feels capable and supported.

What truly sets me apart is my passion for today's youth. I don't simply teach content — I invest in the whole student, recognizing that mindset, motivation, and emotional readiness are just as important as the lesson itself. Whether a student is struggling, on track, or ready to be challenged further, I meet them exactly where they are.

About the lesson

My teaching method and techniques
I combine education and psychology to teach the whole student. Using direct instruction, guided practice, and adaptive strategies, I tailor every lesson to each learner's needs — whether through visual aids, writing workshops, or breaking skills into manageable steps.

A typical lesson
Each session starts with a quick academic and personal check-in. We then focus on a targeted skill, work through examples together, practice independently, and close with clear goals for next time. Lessons are structured yet flexible to meet the student where they are.

What sets me apart
My psychology degree from UT Martin helps me spot frustration and disengagement before they become barriers. Combined with my Master's in Education and active classroom experience teaching Tennessee standards daily, I bring both research-backed theory and real-world teaching practice to every session.

Who my lessons are for
I teach students from early elementary through high school, including those behind grade level, on-track learners, and advanced students ready to be challenged. I also welcome adult learners. If you need reading, writing, grammar, test prep, or communication skills, Nicole's lessons are for you.
