About Crystal

Hi! My name is Crystal and I have been an educator for 13 years. I have a BA in Early Childhood Education, an M.Ed. in Divergent Learning, and an Ed.D. in Curriculum and Instruction. I have taught all primary grades (all in Title I schools), worked as a targeted Reading Interventionist, as well as a Technology Instructional Coach for Elementary and Middle school aged students. I have worked as a full time college professor of child development, and I currently work as an instructional designer for a community college. I have worked as a private tutor, as well as a tutor for after school programs. I am available to tutor all ages in literacy skills, and I am able to help with essay and resume writing.

About the lesson

My teaching approach overall is to have fun. I like to teach and focus my content with explicit instruction first. I like to create learning experiences that are fun, such as playing Kahoot or Quizlet to help reinforce the learning. I periodically will assess my students as a way to see what else I need to focus on as the instructor.
My first lesson is always free, as I use it as a diagnostic to get a better understanding of individual needs. I use this to recommend tutoring sessions, as well as go over deficit areas/needs. For minors parents will need to be present for this first session, as well as the follow-up for recommendations and tutoring plans.
