About Elizabeth
Hello! I'm Mrs. K, and I'm here to help your child thrive academically. With a passion for education that spans both traditional and home learning environments, I bring a unique blend of experience to my tutoring sessions. I am a former classroom teacher with six years of dedicated experience guiding students through key learning milestones. Today, I’m a busy mother of two and an active homeschool parent. This dual perspective means I not only understand formal curriculum requirements, but I also deeply appreciate the need for flexible, engaging, and personalized learning strategies that fit a family’s lifestyle. Outside of teaching, my life is full! I'm a proud wife, a doting dog mom to two pups, and I love spending my free time as a sourdough baker (it’s my favorite form of edible science). I believe in empowering students to become independent learners. My teaching approach focuses heavily on Socratic questioning, guiding students with targeted questions to help them discover the answers to their own areas of confusion. This builds critical thinking skills and lasting comprehension.
To keep sessions engaging and effective, I also incorporate:

In the classroom, I formally taught Reading and Science. Through my homeschooling journey, I have successfully home-schooled students across all subject areas for grades Pre-K through 2nd grade.
