About Harvey

As a fully qualified teacher (PGCE / QTS) with extensive classroom experience, I stay up to date with the latest in Computer Science pedagogy. Python can feel confusing, full of tricky terminology and misconceptions - but it doesn’t have to be. My lessons focus on clear, step-by-step teaching, live coding practice, and personalised guidance to help students build confidence, make real progress, and enjoy learning. Whether starting Python from scratch or strengthening skills for GCSE Computer Science, my sessions provide a structured, supportive, and professional learning environment.

About the lesson

My teaching approach is structured and supportive, designed specifically for GCSE Computer Science students learning Python. I teach through live coding, clear explanations, and guided practice, encouraging students to code alongside me and problem solve collaboratively. I place strong emphasis on logical thinking and helping students understand why their code works (or doesn't!). Progress is monitored throughout the course, and students are held accountable so they can build confidence and make consistent improvements. Lessons are delivered in small groups live online via Zoom and last one hour. Each session includes a short recap, introduction of new concepts, live coding examples, and time for questions and troubleshooting - all aligned to common GCSE UK exam boards.

I am a qualified Computer Science teacher with 5 years experience teaching Python to GCSE students. I strengthen learners' programming skills, improve their confidence, and support their wider Computer Science studies. My teaching style is clear, patient, and focused on helping students achieve real progress. My lessons are ideal for GCSE Computer Science students, typically aged 14–16, who want extra support with Python, whether they are building confidence from the basics or looking to strengthen their skills beyond the classroom.
