About FRANCISCO

Hi! My name is Francis Zhang, I am a native speaker of both Mandarin and Cantonese. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in English Teaching from East China Normal University, one of China’s top 2 education universities and ranked 37th globally in education. And now I am currently pursuing a Master of Education at the University of Melbourne.

Over the years, I’ve gained rich teaching experience with students of different ages and backgrounds. In Shanghai, I taught at both a language education centre and a secondary school, where I designed lessons and encouraged students to think critically. After completing my undergraduate degree, I moved to Sydney and taught Chinese at a NSW Community Languages School, where I worked with students from Kindy to Year Nine and enjoyed helping them grow in both language skills and confidence.

In my teaching, I enjoy designing creative lessons, developing and helping students build confidence in their learning. I look forward to learning and sharing with my students together on this journey!

I’m based in Hornsby, Australia, and offer both in-person and online lessons to accommodate your schedule and preferences. I look forward to helping you achieve fluency in Chinese and guiding you on this exciting journey!

About the lesson

My tutoring approach is student-centered, focusing on the unique needs and goals of each learner. I incorporate a variety of teaching techniques, including: Task-Based Learning and Interactive Tools

Lesson Structure and Duration:
Typical Lesson Length: Each lesson lasts between 60 to 120 minutes, depending on the student’s level and objectives.
Lesson Structure:
Warm-Up: Quick review of previous material and introduction of the day’s objectives.
Core Lesson: Focused on new vocabulary, grammar, and language skills through various activities.
Practice: Application of what’s learned through conversation, exercises, or tasks.
Feedback: Constructive feedback on performance and suggestions for improvement.
Homework: Assignments to reinforce the day's learning.

Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Education

Experience: Experience teaching Chinese at all levels, from beginner to advanced, in both classroom settings and private tutoring. I've also prepared students for YCT and other standardized language exams.

Target Audience:

All Levels: My lessons cater to students of all levels, from absolute beginners to advanced learners.
Age Range: I teach students of all ages, including school-aged children, university students, and adult learners.
