About Gisela
I have worked as a primary school teacher, an ESOL teacher and an ECE teacher for almost twenty years on and off, in Sweden and in New Zealand. I have travelled a lot and am fluent in Portuguese and Spanish. Having first worked with immigrants in my home country (Sweden) and then being an immigrant myself, has given me a great understanding of what it is like to learn a second language and to live in a foreign country. As a teacher, I use this knowledge to guide learners to discover patterns in the English language, as well as to discover cultural codes in their surroundings.

I teach from where my students are at and seek to use their areas of interest as topics for practising reading, writing, speaking and listening. I believe learning must be both personalised and generalised to be efficient. I have taught ESOL to adult immigrants and to children at all levels, but mostly elementary and pre-intermediate. I have also taught Swedish to immigrants as a primary school teacher and an adults' teacher.
I teach groups and one to one. I am also happy to teach online.
