About Debodipto

I’m Debodipto, an English and Spanish teacher with experience teaching Cambridge IGCSE and IB Diploma students. I hold an MA in English from the University of Calcutta and B. Ed from West Bengal University of Teachers' Training. I have also completed professional development in IB Spanish ab initio and Cambridge IGCSE World Literature.

My academic interests include Shakespeare, Victorian and Gothic literature, and modern and postmodern literature. I enjoy helping students find their own ways into a text, whether through a character’s choices, a striking image or a question that invites discussion.

I bring careful preparation, clear explanations and specific feedback to my teaching. Students can expect a welcoming space to ask questions, work through difficulties and develop their ideas. Whether you are preparing for an examination, strengthening your writing, I will help you set realistic goals and work towards them through structured practice.

About the lesson

My classes help students understand what they are learning, practice independently and explain their ideas with confidence. I teach English and Spanish, adapting lessons to each learner’s level, goals and areas of difficulty.

In English, I use close reading, guided discussion and writing practice to develop comprehension, literary analysis and expression. Students learn how to build arguments, select relevant evidence and structure their responses. In Spanish, I combine conversation, listening, reading and short writing tasks, teaching grammar and vocabulary through situations students can relate to.

A typical class begins with a brief review and a clear learning goal. We then explore a text, language point or question together before moving to guided and independent practice. The lesson ends with specific feedback and a manageable next step.

My experience teaching Cambridge IGCSE and IB courses helps me explain assessment expectations clearly. I break demanding tasks into manageable stages and encourage students to ask questions and develop their own interpretations.

Classes are intended for school students, particularly those studying Cambridge IGCSE English or Spanish and IB DP English or Spanish ab initio. I also welcome adult beginners who want to learn Spanish through structured, practical lessons.
