About Ela
I have spent twelve years inspiring more than 440 students at biology-computation intersection. My background includes a doctoral degree in bioinformatics and genomics research. I have worked in academic research biotechnology and education. My students have entered doctoral programs genome centers and biotechnology careers. I am known for interdisciplinary expertise and enthusiasm for data-driven biology. I maintain extensive computational resources. Outside of teaching I contribute to open-source bioinformatics and enjoy hiking. I believe biology's future is computational.

My biology teaching embraces computational revolution. I teach bioinformatics through DNA sequence analysis and gene expression data. Genomics is taught through genome organization and sequencing technologies. Computational biology is introduced through population genetics and phylogenetic analysis. I emphasize programming and statistical skills teaching Python R and bioinformatics pipelines. My lessons use real datasets from research and clinical studies. For exam preparation I teach comprehensive content while developing bioinformatics interpretation. I also guide students in coding for research and data visualization.
