About Laura
I’m a middle school ELA teacher based in Mississippi with a passion for helping students grow as confident readers and writers. I have several years of experience working with diverse learners, including students who need extra support as well as those looking to be challenged. My classroom experience has given me a deep understanding of reading comprehension, writing skills, and test preparation.
In addition to teaching, I am also a published author, which allows me to bring real-world writing experience into my tutoring sessions. I love helping students strengthen their voice, organize their ideas, and feel confident in their writing—whether it’s for school assignments or creative work.
I’m a single mom of two boys, so I understand how important it is to find someone who is patient, dependable, and truly invested in a child’s success. I bring that same level of care and commitment to every tutoring session.
I believe learning should feel approachable, not overwhelming. My goal is always to create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and building confidence in their abilities.

Hi! I’m a certified ELA teacher with years of experience helping middle school students grow in confidence, skills, and test performance—and I genuinely love what I do.
I specialize in breaking down challenging concepts like theme, central idea, and text structure into simple, easy-to-understand steps. Whether your child struggles with reading comprehension, writing, or test prep, I meet them where they are and build them up with clear guidance, patience, and encouragement.
My sessions are engaging, supportive, and tailored to each student’s needs. I don’t just help students get the right answer—I teach them how to think through problems so they can succeed independently.
As a classroom teacher, I understand what students are expected to know and how to help them get there. I also know how to keep them motivated (even when they’d rather be doing literally anything else).
