About Jacob
I’m an experienced tutor with a background in helping students understand test structures and content. I help students with test taking strategies and improve their speed working through standardized tests. My teaching approach is grounded in research-backed strategies and modeled to different learning styles. I’m especially passionate about helping students with test anxiety find ways to confidently work through their exams. My goal is always to build confidence. I treat students like the capable thinkers they are, and take pride in helping them reach their potential.

Based on your intended test date, I will build a personalized test prep program to cover all of the material before that date. This will include skills practice and timed mock testing to prepare for the stressors faced on test day. I teach test structure and how to use the given information to their advantage. We discuss test strategies and timing utilizing their time effectively to score their best. I use scaffolding and various retrieval strategies to improve retention over time.
I’m not here to make you memorize endless pieces of information—I’m here to help you learn not just content but how to use the test structure to your advantage. I specialize in helping students who are burned out, bored, or convinced they “just don’t get it.” I ask questions and create a space where students feel supported.
