About Erin

I am an experienced educator, academic coach and learning strategist with two university degrees: a Bachelor of Public Affairs & Policy Management and Bachelor of Education.

My background includes working with students in need of support with their post-secondary education courses (college or university).

I help students set achievable goals for their studies and strive towards success throughout their education journeys. I have enjoyed working with students for over 10 years!

About the lesson

Lessons focus on supporting students with their academic goals.
The first step is to understand what is going well and what needs improvement. Then we will work on understanding expectations of current courses and create an action plan for the semester.

I provide support for students to help them get organized with their courses. By setting up a system and using helpful tools and strategies, students are better able to manage their course load.

Lessons Areas:
• Learn about executive functioning skills in post-secondary - for organizing coursework, time management, and stress management.

• Focus on learning strategies, to build skills in planning for assignments, completing assignments on time and making time each week to prepare for classes and lectures.

• Set up a study schedule for exams and improve test-taking abilities.

• Learn skills for how to communicate effectively with instructors, self-advocate and work with other students in group assignments.

My goal is to help students understand how to use their strengths and apply strategies to work on their challenges for better success in education.

Other Information:
I have completed an Honours Research Essay with a focus in social policy and digital communications (experience with qualitative research).

My studies in my multidisciplinary degree included law, history, social sciences, sociology, communications, philosophy and politics.

My background includes working with neurodiverse students.
I am a registered Ontario Certified Teacher.
I speak French and can support students in French Language courses.

How It Works:

1. Determine a goal area to focus on.

2. Set up weekly sessions designed to learn skills in the goal area. During the sessions, we will outline the goal, organize a plan, and review strategies, tools and resources to work on the targeted skill.

3. Check in weekly and review progress on a regular basis.

—> Students are provided with customized, individually-tailored digital materials, such as course planners, action plans, schedules, and other tools that they can use throughout each week.

Virtual lessons are available via Zoom.
