Based on the student's circumstance, I try my best to understand their needs or requirements. I will typically need the student's grade, and topics that they will work on to prepare materials for the sessions.
In a typical lesson plan I will prepare a presentation that is easily going and will ask questions every now and then to see if the student is keeping up with the material. Afterwards, we would work on example problems, first of me doing it, then the student doing some. Towards the end of the lesson plan, I might assign homework problems or links to practice problems based on the material we've just went over.
In future sessions, typically towards the beginning, I will give example problems as a warm-up to see if the student understood the material from the prior session.
Being a junior in college and having already worked with various grade groups in my tutoring job, I feel that I understand students and their difficulties in topics because I like to put myself in their situations and how I would handle it to make it easier for them. I try not to be very strict, but at the same time I am cautious or aware of the situation at hand.
