About Max

For the past six years, I have worked as a professional private tutor specialising in English.

Having studied for my undergraduate degree at Oxford and my MPhil at Cambridge, my subject knowledge is very extensive. My experience preparing students from all backgrounds for public exams and admissions tests from the 7+ to Oxbridge entrance has taught me how to apply that knowledge to help my clients achieve real success.

In the past, I have helped an intelligent girl whose lack of familiarity with the English school system meant that she was achieving Ds in her AS mocks go on to achieve an A at A2 and win a place at NYU. I have guided a gifted child who lacked confidence through the Westminster school scholarship exams and a former GCSE Literature student said that I was 'the best English teacher [he'd] ever had'.

My approach is rigorous but sympathetic. I understand that academic success can be hard to achieve and emotionally exhausting. I also recognise that the only way to achieve it is through hard work. I try to guide each of my students steadily but with determination towards achieving their best, whatever that might be.
