About Hazel
With over 9 years of experience teaching French to college students, I focus on building confidence through clear explanations, practical examples, and regular practice.
My teaching style is structured, motivating, and adaptable. Grammar and vocabulary are explained simply and practised in context through examples from academic and daily life. Lessons are designed to suit each student’s learning pace and goals.
I use innovative methods such as conversation practice, guided speaking, interactive exercises, listening activities, and role-plays. These techniques help students apply French naturally while improving fluency, pronunciation, and comprehension.
I encourage questions, active participation, and consistent practice. Mistakes are treated as opportunities to learn, and feedback is always constructive.
My goal is to help college students communicate confidently, succeed academically, and develop strong French language skills for real-life situations.

I teach French with a holistic, problem-solving methodology that integrates creativity, mentorship, critical thinking, and accountability. Lessons are interactive and student-centred, incorporating storytelling, role-plays, dialogues, and cultural activities to make learning engaging, practical, and meaningful.
As a mentor, I guide students to analyse grammar, vocabulary, and sentence structures critically. They are encouraged to solve language problems independently, apply knowledge creatively, and communicate confidently. This approach strengthens language proficiency as well as personal development.
Accountability is central to my teaching. I help students set goals, monitor progress, and provide regular feedback to ensure measurable improvement. Lessons are tailored to each student’s pace, learning style, and interests.
In addition to French, I can teach literature, writing, and other language-related subjects. My goal is to create a flexible, supportive, and inspiring environment where students master French while developing creativity, critical thinking, and lifelong learning skills.
