About Benjamin
I am a former English teacher who has spent the last few years working in the charity and higher education fields. During the summers I usually mark exam scripts for a major UK examination board to keep my subject-specific skills sharp. This year I have marked almost 1000 papers and I'm eager to share the insights I have developed marking so many papers - I don't want it to go to waste! I also miss engaging with younger people and helping them get great grades so that they can go on to do fantastic things in further education or the workplace.

My lessons are targeted for those students preparing for their GCSEs exams (Year 10 and 11 students) but I can assist students from 11-18 as I have extensive experience in this age range. Using my teaching and extensive exam marking experience the aim would be for us to: - identify your current performance level; - give you a clear insight on how exam scripts are assessed; - give you concrete, clear and specific steps on how you can increase your performance level; - give you confidence and clarity on how to perform under the pressure of an exam. I have a high level of familiarity with almost all the texts on the GCSE specifications and so I am comfortable helping students with everything from Shakespeare and 19th Century texts to Poetry and Modern texts. In regards to A-level, this would best be on a case by case basis. Ideally we would have a sequence of 4-8 lessons lasting about an hour each to help support you increase your confidence and performance in your English exams.
