About Clarissa

Hello! I'm a dedicated and enthusiastic Evolutionary Anthropologist, currently furthering my education with a Master's in Cultural Astronomy. My journey in this fascinating field began 8 years ago, and since then, I've been involved in numerous archaeological excavations.

One of my most notable experiences was being part of the Deep Roots Project at Kalambo Falls in Northern Zambia in 2019. While working with a team from Liverpool University, I played a crucial role in discovering the world's oldest known wooden structure, dating back 476,000 years – a finding that predates our species and was recently published in Nature in 2023. This experience as an excavator has been a cornerstone in my academic journey, providing me with invaluable field experience and a deep appreciation for our human history.

My academic and field experiences have equipped me with a unique perspective on the interplay between culture and science, an aspect I am exploring further in my Master's. My approach to tutoring is not just about imparting knowledge but also about sharing the passion and excitement of uncovering the mysteries of human history and culture. I look forward to bringing this enthusiasm to my tutoring sessions, inspiring and guiding students through the fascinating realms of History, Archaeology, Anthropology, and General Humanities.

About the lesson

As a graduate in Evolutionary and Cultural Anthropology, and an experienced archaeologist, my tutoring sessions are rich with insights from my academic journey. I aim to make History, Archaeology, Anthropology, and Humanities compelling and accessible for GCSE and A-Level students. My teaching methodology is flexible and student-centred, focusing on interactive discussions, practical examples, and critical thinking exercises to deepen understanding and engagement with the material.

Each lesson is typically 30 minutes - 1 hour long, offering a balanced mix of theory, discussion, and application. While I am new to formal tutoring, my academic background and passion for these subjects equip me to provide a supportive and enriching learning environment. My lessons are ideal for students who are curious about human cultures, past and present, and seek a deeper understanding of our world's rich historical tapestry. I cater to diverse learning styles and aim to build confidence in my students, encouraging them to explore and question the subjects we cover.
